Mountain Biking
Beechworth is a popular destination for mountain bikers. The Beechworth Mountain Bike Park is the most popular area for getting off the beaten track and provides a truly unique riding experience.
The Beechworth Mountain Bike Park is located on Alma Road. Directions to the trailhead are simple. Follow High Street (behind the old prison) out until you come to a fork in the road. At the fork in the road take the right and Alma Rd is 50 metres up on your left. Take this for a few km’s along the dirt road and you will see the car park for the Beechworth Mountain Bike Park on your left.

Beechworth Mountain Bike Trials
Many of the hills surrounding Beechworth are full of Mountain Bike Trails. These trails range from green beginner trails to challenging double black trails for experienced riders.
Beechworth Mountain Bike Park
The MTB Park is on a compact plot of land punctuated by granite, granite and, yes, more granite. What it lacks in size it makes up for in varied terrain and ride options to suit beginners through to advanced riders.
Technical Grade: Beginner to Intermediate and Advanced.
Distance: Loops from 1.2 up to 10 kms in length.
Riding Time: 1 to 3 hours.
Flame Trees
Designed to be ridden in a clockwise fashion, the trail begins with a sprint in open grassland before entering the trees and gradually descending. While suitable for the entry level rider, the combination of rocks and multiple gradient changes pose a challenge for the more accomplished rider wanting to lay down a fast lap.
Technical Grade: Beginner/Intermediate
Distance: 10km loop
Riding Time: 1.5 hours
The Beechworth Chain Gang
The Beechworth Chain Gang manage and maintain both the Beechworth Mountain Bike Park and the Flame Trees Trail. If you’re out on the trails and notice any maintenance issues (like fallen trees) please let them know either by email or via our Facebook page so they can get out there quickly and sort it out.
