Whatever type of cycling you are looking for Beechworth is the place to find it. Australia’s Premier Rail Trail, the Murray to Mountains Rail Trail arrives right in the middle of town. The Trail goes from Beechworth to Bright and Beechworth to Springhurst providing a safe and pleasurable way to explore in and around Beechworth and North East Victoria.
If Mountain Biking is your go then the Beechworth Mountain Bike Park, which on its own is considered one of the best places to mountain bike ride in Australia is easily accessible. Fishing
Visit Lake Kerferd or Lake Sambell to fish for Red Fin, Yellow Belly or Rainbow Trout.
Gold Panning, Prospecting & Fossicking
In Victoria, a prospector or fossicker requires a Miner’s Right which is a permit to prospect for minerals on unreserved Crown Land or private land where the permission of the landowner has been granted.
A Victorian Miners Right is valid for 2 years and can be purchased from the Beechworth Visitor Information Centre.

Beechworth is surrounded by acres of spectacular National and State forest land; Beechworth Historic Park, Stanley State Forest, Woolshed Falls Historic Walk, White Box Walk and Chiltern Mt Pilot National Park. The tranquil beauty of eucalyptus and native cypress forests, winding creeks, steep gullies and rugged granite outcrops provide an exciting opportunity to explore natural and historical attractions close to the town.
